PrimeFaces 6.1-Final Released

PrimeFaces 6.1-Final Released

It is PrimeTime! PrimeTek is proud to announce the 6.1-Final release of PrimeFaces, the UI library of almost any JSF application. In total there are over 300 improvements compared to the previous version including new components, important new features to DataTable, major accessibility enhancements and significant amount of defect fixes.

PrimeFaces is 8 years old and considering the fast-paced front-end landscape where javascript libraries come and go like mayflies, PrimeFaces represents stability and maturity that enterprises along with many others prefer over bleeding edge technologies. It is the flagship of other ships in our fleet including PrimeNG which is also very popular in Angular community meaning that even new technologies are created, requirements do not change that fast so a technology should be chosen based on the requirements not because of its temporary hype.

New Components

Organigram is used to visualize an Organization backed by a OrganizationNode model that utilizes a tree like structure.

TriStateCheckbox adds a new state to the checkbox in addition true and false states.

Chips components allows entering multiple values with an input field, you may think of an autocomplete with multiple mode minus the suggestion functionality.

The most important component has received various new features such as;

  • TableState to keep state across multiple pages.
  • Advanced RowGrouping
  • VirtualScroll to deal with large datasets using on-demand scrolling.
  • ClientCache to load next data page under the hood in an async way

  • Pagination for TreeTable
  • Filtering for Tree
  • Exporter options for DataExporter
  • Improved RTL support
  • Better Section 508 and WAI-ARIA compatibility

Full changelog is available at each released version before the final;

User Guide

PrimeFaces User Guide is updated to 6.1 and available to download.

6.1 is a fully feature community released and available to download at maven central to whole community.

There are no breaking changes and migration is simple as replacing the jar.

Elite Support

Elite releases will begin in two weeks with 6.1.1 as well as continued support for 6.0.x. As 6.1 is available now, Elite support for 5.3.x ends.

Special Thanks

Kudos to PrimeFaces Lead Developers Mert Sincan and Thomas Andrashcko for their great work on getting PrimeFaces 6.1 ready and also special thanks to our community who tested the RC releases and provided us feedback.

6.2 is planned for end of year and it will contain the new Spreadsheet component that brings excel like functionality to JSF applications.

Always Bet on Prime!

    Great work guys…Good work.
    Am waiting for the Excel like spreadsheet feature in the next releases.
    Other things you may consider are drill down functionality in graphs, ability to have one series on a graph but with different colors for each bar.
